Frank Fisher Letter MX Jan 2008

Frank Fisher’s letter published in MX (9/01/08) gives some idea of the history behind the simple act of taking your bicycle on the train. If you have links to media articles, scanned articles or blog posts, please contact us so that they can be collated on this site.

  2. Has anyone considered allowing private operators to offer bike locker services at stations? I don’t imagine there’s a huge amount of profit to be made from it, but there’s obviously demand, and no reason I can think of that an enterpreneurial type shouldn’t be able to make something of a business out of it. Private operators might do a lousy job of running trains, but surely they can handle supplying and renting out locker-space?

  3. You miss the point, its not storage at stations that is needed to fix this ban, and anyway the solutions to that offered by BV or yours are impractical for reasons that have been expounded numerous times elsewhwere, and you know where).
What is needed is removing the ban and improving the rail system’s capability for all users. Bikes are not the problem.

  4. BTW the previous post was directed to wizofaus’s comment. not Frank Fisher’s letter to mx. 🙂

  5. Rob, two separate problems – I agree the ban is stupid (the “bin the bike ban” name for this site was my idea). But there’s also a problem with bike locker availability, which should be solved separately.
