{"id":53,"date":"2008-01-23T13:46:07","date_gmt":"2008-01-23T02:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/modernthings.org\/binthebikeban\/2008\/01\/23\/stakeholders-in-the-doi-review\/"},"modified":"2014-11-14T23:00:01","modified_gmt":"2014-11-14T12:00:01","slug":"stakeholders-in-the-doi-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/modernthings.org\/binthebikeban\/2008\/01\/23\/stakeholders-in-the-doi-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Stakeholders in the DoI review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you will see in the <a href=\"http:\/\/modernthings.org\/binthebikeban\/2008\/01\/22\/todays-media\/\">media<\/a> Minister Kosky has done about the Department of Infrastructure&#8217;s planned &#8220;review&#8221; of the bike ban, they plan to contact all relevant &#8220;stakeholders&#8221; for consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday afternoon I rang Ms Kosky&#8217;s office to find out how representatives from the Bin the Bike Ban (BtBB) campaign could be involved in the review. Naturally, all the people I should have spoken to were in a meeting.<\/p>\n<p>We intend to keep contacting the department until they announce who those &#8220;stakeholders&#8221; are. Obviously V\/Line and Connex, but their &#8220;stake&#8221; is relatively small compared to that of cyclists. There needs to be representatives from cycling groups &#8211; regional BUGs would be a good start.<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not Bicycle Victoria is part of the review is irrelevant, because they have shown on this issue they can&#8217;t be relied on to represent cyclists&#8217; interests.<\/p>\n<p>There is still no <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpc.vic.gov.au\/__4a256811001d78bf.nsf\/WebAllByMinister!OpenView&#038;Start=1&#038;Count=300&#038;Expand=37#37\">public  release<\/a> from DOI about the ban&#8217;s review (well, there was no release when it came into action, so I suppose it is fitting if it slinks away with similarly little fanfare).
